Hey there Smashing fans! So a quick update on the wonderful world of Smashing Studios…

  • I’m currently redesigning the website and updating it quite a bit. It will no longer have  the online store available (instead there will be a gallery of our work), but the new website will launch along with an Etsy and Storenvy shop, so it will actually become easier for you to purchase from us online
  • If you haven’t heard from our other posts, we’re definitely going to be at Shuto Con in April. We’re sharing a large table with a friend of ours (who will be separate from our studio, just on the same table). We have plans for LOTS of new products, which I’ll post here as we finish!
  • We’re going to be hosting a giveaway of MY stuff within the next two weeks (after I’ve taken inventory). A lot of my prints and keychains are being revamped before Shuto, so I’ll be giving away a lot of the older stuff. The rest of the inventory will be sold at super low prices so I can make back some money to go towards buying new materials for the new art.

I’ll keep you guys in the loop with everything that is going on! Stay Smashing!

Smashing Studios is going to Shuto Con in Lansing this April!

We had tried to register before but were put on a waiting list, and last night a table became available for us! It’s a large table and we won’t need that much space, so we decided we are going to share half of the table with another Studio on the waiting list (the head of the Artist Alley has told us that the next studio on the waiting list is Wan-Tsunami, so it will likely be them).

I know we said no more conventions until the summer, but Shuto Con is so close to the end of my school year that it won’t be a problem preparing for it, and it will get us off to a good start for the convention tour we plan on doing this summer! Besides that, Shuto is one of my personal favorite cons, so I was not going to miss out on an opportunity to work it!

Seeing as we’re going to have to start getting some work done STAT, I’ll be updating the blog more often, as well as making some adjustments to our website and opening our Etsy soon! So stay tuned for more news, and stay smashing!

Hello everyone, so as you may have noticed we haven’t been very active since the end of GoDaikoCon. Fal has gotten a new job and I’m back to school full time and work part time, so things have been hectic- but I wanted to give you an update on the status of things.

Smashing Studios is going to go on a brief a convention hiatus. What this means is that while the studio will still be active, we do not have any plans to attend conventions at this time. This is partially due to the fact that Fal and I are busy, and also due to the fact that due to financial conflicts, we weren’t able to register for the next two big cons in our immediate area (Shuto Con and Youmacon). Since there really aren’t any other cons that are easier to get to in the near future, we’re going to be taking a break.

While we aren’t going to be touring conventions, we still do plan to be fairly active. I for one know I’m going to continue making new art when I have the time and putting it for sale online. I plan on redesigning the website quite a bit to make it easier to navigate and order things online, and I also plan on starting an Etsy account in the near future.

There are other things to come in the future, and hopefully we’ll be able to do conventions again sometime soon when things have settled down. Until then we hope you keep following us, we appreciate each and every one of our followers!

Much love, Stay Smashing

Here are some of the commissions we did at GoDaiko this year! We actually did one more than this, but it was done in a rush because the commissioner ordered it and then had to leave ten minutes later, so we didn’t get a good enough picture of it and the colors were a bit smudgy.

The top one was a collaboration between me and Falicia (I did the line art, she did the colors and inking), and the bottom two were done completely by me.

Remember that we take commissions at every convention, and Falicia and I also take commissions via our personal deviantART accounts!

We’ve gotten 5 new followers on our blog today! I recognize most of you from GoDaiko, so thank you for taking an interest and following us!

Just so everyone knows things will be slow on the blog for a while because Falicia doesn’t Tumble and I’m in the process of winding down from the convention excitement and packing up to move in two days. Since we don’t know what the next con we’re preparing for is and we’ll need to settle back into life before posting more life, we’ll be a little slow for the next week or so, but I already have tons of new sketches for new keychains and I even have a contest in mind to get rid of some extra stuff we have laying around so that we can make more room for other things!

Stay tuned for more info soon!

Fal and I just left GoDaikoCon and we MADE OUR GOAL FOR PROFITS FOR THE WEEKEND! It was hard, and we literally only made 37 cents more than our goal in literally the last few minutes before we packed up, but we did it nonetheless!

This weekend has been so great, thanks to anyone who stopped by and bought things and/or said hello. We’re in talks right now for doing a few other conventions in Michigan, as well as some in Ohio as well, so when we know what our next convention is we will be sure to let you know, and we’ll keep updating here, facebook, and dA until then!

Thanks to everyone at GoDaiko for an awesome weekend!

-Kayci

P.S. Falicia doesn’t have a Tumblr, but if anyone who I talked to this weekend wants to follow me on my personal tumblr, you can find me over at hulk-krogan.tumblr.com! I always follow back, so let me know you met me at the con so I can say hello!

Only one day left of GoDaikoCon! Our studio has been doing very well so far (despite a shaky start) and we’ve made tons of new acquaintances in the last few days with other artists and guests!

Tomorrow we’re going to cut down some of our prices to get rid of some of our extra stock, as well as giving the 15% discount to anyone who shows their love for our studio mascot by saying the phrase “Franklin Rules.”

We may not be at another con in this area for a while (depending on whether we do Youmacon or not) so make sure you stop by and buy up our stuff while you can!

We’re all set up at GoDaikoCon!!! Trust me, you won’t be able to miss us if you’re looking for us- the artist alley this year is set up so that you have to walk through it to get to ANYTHING, and we’re in a perfect spot to see us! The artist alley is open ALL day- we’re talking until 4 am, so we’re going to stay as late as we can. Come by and say hi to us!

We’re currently working on our set up for GoDaikoCon this weekend! We’re already about halfway done with our entire display- then it’ll be time to pack everything up again to bring it to the con!
Remember, if you say the code words “Franklin Rules” (Franklin being our dapper narwhal mascot of course) on Sunday you will get 15% off of your total purchase!
